Memorial to Lt. Archie S. Daniels
The local residents of Great Hormead are planning a permanent memorial to 'Sonny' Daniels, who was killed in action on 11th February 1944. Lt. Daniels had experienced mechanical difficulties after take-off from Duxford airfield and was killed whilst attempting an emergency landing, at Great Hormead, Hertfordshire, England.
Over 60 years later the local community would like to remember Lt. Daniels by placing a Cornish Granite memorial, near the spot where Lt. Daniels' P-47 Thunderbolt crashed.
In order to achieve our goal and have this modest memorial stone erected by the summer of 2010, we shall need to find approximately £1,000.00 ($2,000.00).
If you would like to contribute towards this memorial fund, your financial support would be extremely welcome.
