| Notes | Entered service from Vandalia, Michigan. MACR No. 01746 Capt. James H. Hancock reported: Lt. Peters was my wingman and we were separated from the group by an attack from the rear. We had to break right and got away from the group in that way. We tried to get to some bombers for protection, but were under attack all of the time. Lt. Peters bailed out when 2 Me-109s were on our tail. I broke to the left and he bailed out. That was about 10 miles south of Kiel at an altitude of 27,000 feet. Lt. Peters bailed out 15 miles south of Kiel, Germany. He was imprisoned at Stalag Luft I. Reproduced with kind permission of Mr. Robert M. Littlefield from the author's book Double Nickel - Double Trouble |
