| Notes | From Tennessee. ASN - 0-763242 06 July 1944 - Joined the 38th Fighter Squadron 19 September 1944 - Promoted from 2nd Lieutenant to 1st Lieutenant Lt. Lawrence was making a formation take-off, as a wingman, on a combat mission. As his leader started a left turn at 30 to 50 feet above the ground, Lt. Lawrence got into a position where he was in the flight leader's prop wash. His aircraft moved down and out of the prop wash, but his left wing hit the top of a tree and the plane turned over and crashed. The aircraft was destroyed and Lt. Lawrence was killed instantly. Lt.
