10 December 1943 - Left engine caught fire and Tinto bailed out in the county of Bedfordshire, England. Approximately 1 mile North East of Sutton. (P-38 42-67057) 13 April 1944 - Tinto crashed at Nuthampstead. Lost engine
on landing and flipped over, off the end of the runway. Tinto was
injured but survived the crash.
