19 November 1943 - Joined the 338th Fighter Squadron
10 December 1943 - Left engine caught fire and Tinto bailed out in the county of  Bedfordshire, England.  Approximately 1 mile North East of Sutton.  (P-38 42-67057)
05 February 1944 - Awarded the Air Medal
23 February 1944 - Awarded an Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Medal
07 March 1944 - Awarded an Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Medal
25 March 1944 - Promoted from 2nd Lieutenant to 1st Lieutenant
05 April 1944 - Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross
13 April 1944  - Tinto crashed at Nuthampstead.  Lost engine on landing and flipped over, off the end of the runway.  Tinto was injured but survived the crash.   Photo of crash scene, whilst rescuers try to free Tinto, who is still trapped in wreckage. (Frank Birtciel)
