B. November 13, 1943
C. 343rd Fighter Squadron
D. 1145
E. Five miles west of Bremen
F. CAVU - seven tenths to nine-tenths at about 17,000 feet
G. FW 190
H.
I. Flying as his wingman, I was following Capt. Ryan at about fifty yards when
he went into a slight dive. I spotted about four FW 190's coming our way
and also in a dive. Capt. Ryan opened fire with a short burst when the FW
190 that he hit was about 300 yards away and at a sixty degree deflection.
The E/A started to trail smoke and went into a uncontrolled spin. I
confirm Capt. Ryan's claim for one FW 190 destroyed.
