PILOT'S PERSONAL ENCOUNTER REPORT
B. 13 November 1943
C. 338th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group
E. Hagen, Germany.
F. 9/10 sky coverage up to 20,000, Visibility unlimited.
G. ME 210.
H. One (1) ME 210 destroyed.
I. E/A was seen to be taking position behind rear box of B-17's about 2,000 feet below and ahead. Flight dove down and took position on 210's tail and I opened fire at about 400 yards, closing rapidly. I observed at least six explosive 20 MM hits on his tail surfaces and right wing with initial fire. E/A broke off slowly to left and started slow spin down to left, apparently out of control. Further attack was impossible due to E/A attacks on flight.
