F. 9/10 sky coverage, visibility unlimited at 30,000 feet.
G. ME 109.
H. None.
I. I observed two ME 109's behind and above our flight as we were making
climbing right turn. The flight turned into them in a shallow dive.
The E/A refused a head-on pass and went under. Our flight leader took No.
1 and I took No. 2. I opened fire at 500 yards with a 30 degree deflection
burst. I then closed rapidly and broke off in a shallow climbing turn to
the right. No claims. I observed no hits, and I did not see aircraft
after he broke away.
