B. 13 November 1943.
C. 338th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group.
D. 1200.
E. Bremen.
F. 9/10 clouds, Visibility unlimited at 30,000.
G. ME 109.
H. None.
I. I observed two 109's behind and above flight as we were making a climbing
right turn, 109's coming down on us from 32,000 ft. Met them head-on and
they refused head-on pass and swung out and under to our left. Fired at
E/A in a diving turn to left at about 500 yards, 30 degree deflection head-on.
Closed to 300 yards, 20 degree deflection from astern, then broke in a climbing
turn above and to the right. No claims and observed no hits - did not see
E/A after we broke to the right.
