PILOT'S PERSONAL ENCOUNTER REPORT
B. 5 November 1943.
C. 38th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group.
E. 20 or 30 miles west of Munster.
G. Do 217.
H. Possible strikes.
I. We were weaving in back of the bombers when our Flight Leader Capt. Ayers saw a DO 217 below and told Capt. Shipman, leader of the other flight that he was going down. I was on Capt. Ayers wing, and we dove down to the attack. I turned inside Capt. Ayers and fired at the DO 217, gave it about two or three big bursts, then we broke off, climbing into the sun.
